Boris Nechyporenko who visited his client in the Kyiv SIZO [pre-trial detention centre] on Monday, Mr Ivashchenko’s condition has not changed since Friday when the court was forced to postpone the court hearing as a result.  He said that he is lying in his cell since he has refused to go to the SIZO medical unit so as not to risk catching other illnesses.

Mr Nechyporenko says that the doctor who last week examined Mr Ivashchenko recommended that he be transferred to a neurology clinic and prescribed medicine which the SIZO medical unit does not hold.

He asserted that his client, it could be said, was not receiving any treatment.
