Municipal services undertake “repair work” on Tymoshenko protest site
The Kharkiv authorities have set up a fence around the area used by protesters outside the Kachaniivska Penal Colony where former Prime Minister and leader of the opposition Batkivshchyna party has been held since 30 December 2011. On 10 January the authorities forcibly dismantled tents set up by Tymoshenko supporters, and now they have established a work site, supposed to repair the sewage system near the penal institution.
On 6 January 2012 the Kharkiv District Administrative Court allowed an application from the Kharkiv City Council and banned the Batkivshchyna Party [of Yulia Tymoshenko] from picketing the penal colony
