According to a study carried out by the NGO “Transparent Democracy” and the news agency Ukrainski Novyny, 6 Verkhovna Rada Deputies are the record breakers for parliamentary truancy, with five of these, including Rinat Akhmetov, from the ruling Party of the Regions

Rinat Akhmetov, billionaire Party of the Regions MP does not seem to have attended any parliamentary session for two years, although his card is regularly used in government voting

According to a study carried out by the NGO “Transparent Democracy” and the news agency Ukrainski Novyny, 6 Verkhovna Rada Deputies are the record breakers for parliamentary truancy.

The survey was carried out from 1 February 2011 to 13 January 2012.  During that period 5 MPs from the Party of the Regions: Rinat Akhmetov; Volodymyr Zubyk; Oleksandr Leshchynsky; Serhiy Momot; and Vasyl Stelmashenko, as well as one MP from BYUT Haregin Arutyunov were not once present.

The survey did not register absence for good reasons (illness; business trips, leave, family circumstances) as “truancy”.

During an analogous survey carried out from 1 January 2010 to 14 January 2011, 6 MPs from the Party of the Regions did not once attend a parliamentary session. These include two of the MPs who would appear to have not been in parliament once in two years: billionaire Rinat Akhmetov and Oleksandr Leshchynsky
