Maidan 2012: scuffles between riot police and demonstrators

During a mass rally on Independence Square to mark the eighth anniversary of the Orange Revolution at least 5 activists were arrested and the riot police out in force

During a mass rally on Maidan Nezalezhnosti [Independence Square] to mark the eighth anniversary of the Orange Revolution some activists tried to carry a tent from the Central Post Office to the Independence Monument. Around 100 Berkut riot police blocked the road, with this resulting in a scuffle and the activists trying to break through the police cordon.

As of 20.00 at least five activists had been detained, including one Russian national, photographer Yury Barabash.
