Road Control which monitors drivers’ rights and the traffic police asserts that the traffic police called in around 20 thugs who attacked journalists filming an illegal car impoundment site

Dorozhny Kontrol [Road Control] which monitors the activities of the traffic police and observance (often otherwise) of drivers’ rights reports that a group of thugs were brought in by the traffic police [DAI or Road Inspectorate officers] and set upon Dorozhny Kontrol journalists.

During the evening of 26 November on Zodchykh St in Kyiv Road Control journalists were making a video film of what they say is a new illegal private car impoundment area to which Kyiv residents’ cars are being towed and which does not have a formal agreement with the DAI. .

Road Control asserts that DAI traffic police officers called around 20 thugs who attacked the journalists.  This left A. Dendzy with a smashed up face while another journalist, A. Zhukoven received several blows to the head. The police who arrived at the scene did nothing.

At 21.20 Road Control reported that it wasn’t sending all their people to the scene since they feared that in the absence of any reaction from the police, the violence could continue.

Road Control has posted a video of the incident here
