Mass events will only be cancelled on the grounds of national security

The right to hold an event is granted without any permits from the local authorities. It is necessary to mere warn them within five days

The Minister of Justice Mykola Onishchuk told journalists on Wednesday that the new version of the Law on the procedure for organizing and holding peaceful gatherings envisages the possibility of banning an event solely by court order. He says that the law is very precise in regulating exceptional cases for not permitting the holding of an event, these being where national security or people’s health could be at risk. He also stresses that the law establishes a notification principle for holding peaceful events of all kinds.

The right to hold an event is granted without any permits from the local authorities. It is necessary to mere warn them within five days. In the case of events being held in connected with exceptional events of strong public interests, notification can be given within a day.
