The Dniester Canyon, one of Ukraine’s natural wonders, is under threat

At a press conference on 28 October representatives of environmental organizations, tourist agencies and scientific establishments which supported the nationwide civic campaign “Dniester Environmental Wave” will provide information about the dangers facing this natural wonder.  Specific issues to be covered include:

-        how Ukraine’s natural and historical – cultural heritage is being destroyed and plundered;

-        why the local authorities are sabotaging implementation of a number of Presidential decrees, of the nationwide program for the formation of a national environmental network and public demands regarding the creation of a national nature park “Dniester Canyon”;

-        the dangers inherent in procrastinating over the creation of the national nature park;

-        what the results of the Dniester expeditions in 2009 show.
