President Yanukovych has issued a State award “For Services, Class II” to Renat Kuzmin, Deputy Prosecutor General.  Kuzmin is known far beyond Ukraine for his extremely active role in the criminal prosecutions of former Prime Minister and opposition leader, Yulia Tymoshenko.  He has even travelled around Europe trying to convince EU countries that there is no political component in Ms Tymoshenko’s trials and imprisonment.  He has also been highly vocal in effectively stating that the former Prime Minister is guilty of at very least one murder.

The Presidential decree honours a number of employees of the Prosecutor’s Office, including Kuzmin, : “for significant personal contribution to the development of a law-based state; the strengthening of lawful behaviour; defence of constitutional rights and civil liberties; conscientious work over many years and a high level of professionalism”.
