Online presentation “Human Dignity and the Way of Lev Kopelev”

We invite you to take part in the online presentation “Human Dignity and the Way of Lev Kopelev”, which will be held by the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group in cooperation with the “Human Rights” publishing house and the Ukrainian Center of the International PEN Club on 7 September at 18.00 Kiev time. The book “Lev Kopelev, a humanist and cosmopolitan” will be presented – a biography of Lev Kopelev, published in Kharkiv by the “Human Rights” publishing house in Ukrainian, translated from German. The author of the book is a Swiss journalist and writer Reinhard Mayer, who befriended Kopelev when he was a Moscow correspondent for the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung in the 1970s. Subsequently, he collaborated a lot with Kopelev in Germany. Translated by Igor Andrushchenko.

The presentation will be attended by Reinhard Mayer, members of the Kopelev-Orlov family: daughters Maria Orlova, Svetlana Ivanova, Kopelev’s son-in-law Pavel Litvinov, as well as members of the Kopelev Forum, in particular, Fritz Pleitgen, Maria Klassen, Andreas Umland and others, Igor Andrushchenko, Evgeniy Zakharov, Eleanor Solovey, Andrey Portnov, Leonid Finberg and others. The presentation languages are Ukrainian and Russian.

Moderator – a philosopher, Constantin Sigov, a lecturer at the Kiev-Mohyla Academy and director of the “Spirit and Litera” publishing house.
