Without any court verdict, Russia has added a young Crimean Tatar woman Elina Mamedova to its huge ‘List of Terrorists and Extremists’ over three social media reposts from 2014 and 2015. Armyansk, in Northern Crimea is suffocating from new toxic emissions and the Russian occupation authorities have finally announced that a state of emergency is being declared. The Crimean Titanium Factory responsible for the emissions has, meanwhile, decided to claim it is all Ukraine’s fault and ask the Russian occupiers to initiate criminal proceedings.

Crimean Tatar activist Osman Belyalov has been jailed for five days over VKontakte social media reposts from 2010-2011, only one of which remains online to this day. This is the latest offensive against activists of the civic initiative Crimean Solidarity, with the Russian occupation authorities not even attempting to find a credible pretext.

The report that Volodymyr Balukh is in severe pain after being beaten in prison has not been confirmed or refuted, but only because both his lawyer and Archbishop Kliment, his civic defender, were prevented from visiting him on 15 September.
