The Tribunal for Putin (T4P) global initiative was set up in response to the all-out war launched by Russia against Ukraine in February 2022.

European Parliament could consider a Resolution recognizing Holodomor as genocide this autumn

Radio Svoboda reports this, quoting unnamed sources in the European Parliament. At the same time, the Ukrainian representation to the EU says that it will be running an information campaign on Holodomor [the Famine of 1932-1933] over the coming months.

The declaration recognizing Holodomor as genocide committed against the Ukrainian people has at present been supported by 140 MEPs.  This is not enough to pass the declaration, with 393 signatures needed.

Sources in the European Parliament say that this is normal since MEPs are reluctant to add their signatures to any declarations.

However the proposal to recognize Holodomor as genocide may be put again in autumn, with the initiative to put this to the vote possibly coming from one of the Polish MEPs.

Radio Svoboda was told in the Ukrainian representation to the EU that a decision to consider the issue could become known by the end of June, while the actual review would possible be closer to November.
