Belarusian Solidarity action: “The Graffiti of Freedom”
Freedom cannot be halted! This is the firm conviction of Ukrainian civic activists who are concerned for the democratic development of Ukraines neighbour Belarus. For this reason the Civic Initiative “Solidarnist” will be marking the next Belarusian Solidarity Day on 16 July with a protest action entitled “GRAFFITI OF FREEDOM” in solidarity with Belarusian young people.
Freedom knows neither borders nor nationality. It is found in freedom of speech, freedom of movement and first of all, in freedom of self-expression.
During the action Ukrainian activists will paint graffiti on an improvised wall offering their response to the question “What is freedom?” They will demonstrate in practice that they, just beginning in graffiti, can be no less convincingly titled artists as the Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko can be described as one of the democratic leaders of Europe.
The action will take place on 16 July 2007 at 19.00 outside the Belarusian Embassy (Kotsyubynsky St, No. 3 in Kyiv).
