05.12.2015
16-year-old Vitaly died on Nov 25 from horrific injuries inflicted by staff of the Belorechensk prison colony [Krasnodar region in Russia] during an orgy of beating. Seven young lads were beaten, but the staff showed particularly brutality to Vitaly whom they referred to using insulting words for Ukrainian..
Disappearances and Groups at Risk in Russian-Occupied Crimea
16.11.2015
Islam Dzhepparov was just 19 when he and his cousin were abducted in Crimea on Sept 27, 2014. It was his 20th birthday on Nov 13 – if he is still alive. Civic activist Timur Shaimardanov was 33 when he disappeared on May 26 2014, after peaceful protest against Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
In Eastern Ukraine, A Young Life Shattered
12.11.2015
11-year-old Kolya Nyzhnyakovskyy strains to scratch the itching wounds from shrapnel embedded in what’s left of his legs. He is using his left hand, the one that remains since since the day two months ago when an unexploded munition shattered three of Kolya’s limbs and killed his 4-year-old brother, Danylo, instantly.
Ukrainian authorities slated over Odesa May 2 investigation
05.11.2015
As anticipated, the International Advisory Panel which scrutinized the investigation into the tragic disturbances and fire in Odesa on May 2, 2014, has condemned the lack of an independent body in charge of the investigation and of any real progress

How Dutch Investigators Rebuffed Russia’s Alternative MH17 Theories
14.10.2015
Dutch investigators repeatedly rebuffed Russian efforts to insert alternative theories into an authoritative report about the July 2014 downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane over eastern Ukraine
Vital Probe of Odesa May 2 Tragedy stymied because of questions answered?
11.09.2015
Despite the clear importance of a proper investigation into the deadly disturbances and fire in Odesa on May 2, 2014, and the mileage gained by Russia’s propaganda machine from any delay, the number of investigators has been drastically reduced, just when they seemed to be making headway
Ex-Security Service chief in custody over Euromaidan killings
27.08.2015
Oleksandr Shcheholev, the former head of the Kyiv SBU [Security Service] has been remanded in custody for two months on charges relating to the killing of Euromaidan activists
Russia’s Supreme Court allows Putin to hide Russian military losses in Ukraine
14.08.2015
Putin’s decree classifying information about military losses in peacetime as ‘state secret’ is widely seen as linked with Russia’s undeclared military engagement in Ukraine and can be used as a weapon against those trying to provide truthful information about the conflict, including details of Russian soldiers killed in the fighting
Chief suspect in murder of journalist Veremiy reported killed
29.07.2015
Anonymous ‘underground fighters’ in Donbas claim to have “eliminated” one of the men suspected of killing Kyiv journalist Viacheslav Veremiy
Activist linked to anti-corruption investigation savagely attacked
27.07.2015
Oleksandr Kulibabchuk’s wife, Natalya Rostova is convinced that the attack is linked with her role in helping journalists from the ‘Schemy. Corruption in Detail’ programme investigate alleged corrupt dealings by the Mayor of Irpin, Volodymyr Karplyuk.
So who doesn’t want justice for Euromaidan victims?
21.07.2015
A key suspect, charged with crimes against Euromaidan activists, has failed to appear in court just over a week after he was released from custody. If he has fled, this will be the second time that a high-profile suspect has vanished after a controversial court ruling. In the meantime, the trial has finally begun of two former Berkut officers accused over the gunning down of 39 Maidan activists
Incriminating Video, Endless Lies and Putin’s ‘Premature’ Tribunal on MH17
17.07.2015
Within minutes of the downing of Malaysian Airline MH17 Russian television and other media reported that the militants in Donbas had downed a Ukrainian military airplane, and even showed the video footage. It was removed later in the evening as Moscow realized all that it had to hide. No end to lies ever since - or shame
Sloviansk torture, killings, execution orders, yet still no proper investigation
14.07.2015
A year has passed since the Kremlin-backed militants who had seized control of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and the surrounding area fled, leaving behind their hostages, at least one mass grave, ‘death warrants’ and execution lists. Ukraine’s authorities are no longer able to cite lack of access yet are still failing to fully investigate what were undoubtedly grave human rights crimes
No charges and racial motive denied in bloody attack on students in Kharkiv
25.06.2015
The only 5 young men arrested following a brutal attack on the student area of Kharkiv on June 11 have been released, with no charges laid. The police deny any racial motive since some of those injured were Ukrainians, although this is clearly not a view shared by many foreign students in Kharkiv.
Kharkiv attack on foreign students was no ‘mass brawl’
14.06.2015
Ukraine’s Security Service head has claimed Russia was behind a brutal attack on June 11 in Kharkiv which other officials keep referring to, with equally unclear grounds, as a “mass brawl’. With four Jordanian students the most gravely injured and other students telling journalists that the assailants obviously targeted foreign students, a thorough and transparent investigation is needed, not immediate shouts of ‘provocation’.

Movement at last on Odesa 2 May investigation
26.05.2015
A year after the tragic riots and fire in Odesa on May 2, 2014, a top police official is facing charges and civic investigators have upheld their right to information which is of clear public importance. A draft bill has also been tabled which could waive charges for people accused only of participation in riots, increasing the chances of finding the organizers and initiators
Finding the real culprits of the events in Odesa on May 2, 2014
26.05.2015
A bill just tabled in Ukraine’s parliament could, if passed, put an end to ‘chance prosecutions’ in connection with the tragic disturbances and fire in Odesa on May 2, 2014, and help the investigators to find those responsible for the death of 48 people and multiple injuries that day.
Russia Today, or why Odesa May 2 is different from Baltimore
01.05.2015
There would be outrage if a TV channel broadcasting in Baltimore reported a fire started by accident and killing a number of Afro-Americans as having been deliberately lit. Still more so if the lie was spread via an English-language channel directly funded by the Kremlin. The latter has done precisely that in pushing a ‘massacre narrative’ about the tragic events on May 2, 2014 in Odesa.
