With fears rising through Friday following the appearance of thousands of paid thugs and huge contingents of Berkut riot police, the US Ambassador in Kyiv has warned that dispersal of the peaceful pro-European integration protest will adversely affect US-Ukrainian relations.
Thugs attack Channel 5 film crew near pro-government rally

In the second attack on journalists today, thugs in Mariyinsky Park have attacked a Channel 5 film crew with sticks and stone. The channel says that there are a few hundred of these thugs in the park, and no police to be seen.
Hromadskie.tv journalists beaten up in centre of Kyiv

Two journalists from the public broadcasting initiative Hromadskie.tv were set upon by a bunch of thugs while filming people brought in for a pro-government demonstration. The attack was clearly directed at the journalists, with their camera smashed and a flash drive with material removed
Luhansk: Worryingly inadequate excuses for banning peaceful assembly

A Luhansk court has effectively banned all peaceful protest in the centre until 14 January 2014. The court in this way allowed an application from the Luhansk Regional Police and City Council which claimed that a ban was needed due to possible clashes between supporters and opponents of European integration

Only Crimean Tatar TV channel fails to win Broadcasting Council tender

As feared, ATR, the first and only Crimean Tatar TV channel has not received a frequency in the Broadcasting Council’s tender. There was no outright winner at the meeting on Nov. 20 so a new tender will be needed. Both ATR and Radio “Meidan” are at threat.
