National Commission disturbed by infringements of journalists rights

The National Commission for the Affirmation of Freedom of Speech and Development of the Information Realm under the President of Ukraine has appealed to local authorities to ensure that their rules of journalist accreditation are in compliance both with Ukrainian legislation and with international standards.
Kalashnikov insists on his innocence

Kalashnikov said that he took responsibility, but denied his involvement, and also spoke of freedom of speech being used “as an instrument for carrying out genocide of the individual”. After this speech, the journalists present in the press area, began chanting “Shame!”.

The Committee indicates that the STB journalists are ready to conclude an amicable agreement over the issue, however Kalashnikov is not agreeing to this and has still not personally apologised to them. They also note that after 5 months there has been little movement forward in the criminal investigation
Prosecutor comes out against new accreditation rules for journalists in the Crimean Parliament

The Crimean Prosecutors Office has recognized as unlawful the limitations on the number of accredited journalists, the demands not set down in legislation for documents in order to receive accreditation, as well as the ban on approaching other sources for information besides the press centre of the Crimean Parliament.
Investigative committee condemns Kalashnikovs behaviour

The special investigative committee has passed a resolution condemning the behaviour of Oleh Kalashnikov directed against the TV STB filming crew. The resolution gives only a moral and ethical assessment of Kalashnikovs actions, since the legal evaluation must be provided by the prosecutors office.

Grubby attack on the “Memorial” website

Since 18 November "Memorial" has been subjected to a DoS attack which has virtually blocked all access to their sites. The attack, judging by messages which have appeared on the Internet, has been organized by one of the fascist groups.

The Commission has existed for over 5 years, created initially by 80 journalists. Since then around one thousand journalists have adopted the Code of Ethics.
