Presidential reprimand over inadequate preparation for the anniversary of Holodomor
On Friday 26 October President Yushchenko issued a Decree “On the personal liability of public officials for unsatisfactory preparation of measures to mark the 75th anniversary of Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
President Yushchenko criticized the Head of the Council of Ministers of the Crimea, the heads of Regional, Kyiv and Sevastopol City State Administrations. He accused them of having failed to adequately organization preparation for the anniversary, by not making up lists of people in their region who had suffered as a result of Holodomor, not preparing the appropriate memorial books, putting places of burial of victims of the genocide against the Ukrainian people in order and removing monuments and places to individuals implicated in organizing and carrying out Holodomor and political repression.
The President singled out for particular criticism the heads of four regional administrations: Volodymyr Lohvinenko (Donetsk region); Yevhen Chervonenko (Zaporizhya region); Ivan Plachkov (Odessa region) and Boris Silenkov in the Kherson region.
