Columbia declares Holodomor an act of genocide
The Ukrainian Embassy for Peru and Columbia has received a copy of the Resolution passed by the Chamber of Representatives of the Columbian Congress in which Columbia recognizes Holodomor to have been an act of genocide against the Ukrainian nation.
The lower house of Columbias parliament condemned the genocide and spoke of 7 million victims. It denounced all forms of totalitarianism and any crimes against humanity.
The Resolution stresses that Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine was the result of terror perpetrated by a totalitarian regime in order to destroy a people.
Columbia is thus the fourth Latin American country after Peru, Paraguay and Ecuador whose parliaments have recognized Holodomor to have been genocide.
