Kherson resident sentenced to 6 years for human trafficking
Having examined material from the criminal investigation carried out by the SBU [Security Service], the Komsomolsky District Court in Kherson has found a Kherson woman guilty of the crime set down in Article 332 § 2 of the Criminal Code (unlawful transportation of people across the state border, as a repeated offence or by prior conspiracy of a group of people) and Article 149 § 2 (human trafficking or any other illegal transaction with respect to a person).
The 41-year-old in 2006 organized the selection of young women supposedly for work as waitresses or dancers in Turkish places of entertainment. The SBU established that she had “sold” a young woman in difficult financial circumstances into sex bondage in Turkey for 2,400 US dollars.
