Chechen Activist to Victim
The video at the URL below is in memory of human rights defender Natalya Estemirova abducted in Chechnya last week and murdered in cold blood. It is not easy viewing, but please try and also pass it on to others.
Natalya was effectively the last person who gave the world reliable information about human rights abuses in Chechnya, including those committed by the Kremlin-backed regime of Ramzan Kadyrov, and in that way gave the victims of abuse hope and desperately needed support.
The Memorial Human Rights Centre has felt compelled to suspend its activities in Chechnya.
We will be betraying the memory of a very courageous woman and all the people Natalya Estimirova, Anna Politkovskaya and others helped if we allow those waging a war of terror to win.
