Civic Monitors begin working in Mykolaiv

Around 50 activists of the Civic Network OPORA will be observing the course of the election campaign and voting on Election Day for local councils in the Mykolaiv region. According to the OPORA Regional Coordinator for the Mykolaiv region, Olena Kabashna, six long-term observers will be checking that the electoral process is democratic, legal and transparent, with these being joined on Election Day be 44 members of the network. OPORA is planning to not only observe the course of the elections, but also to analyze the pre-election programmes and problems of candidates so as to be able to report to the public as to whether they have been met. The OPORA Civic Network is a non-governmental, non-party and financially independent organization of civic activists with experience of observing election campaigns.
