Parliament supports moratorium of media checks during election campaign

On Tuesday 19 October, 12 days before the elections, the Verkhovna Rada finally passed a draft Resolution “On ensuring unobstructed work of the media during the 2010 pre-election period”.  384 National Deputies voted for the Resolution.

The aim of the Resolution is to prevent legal, administrative, economic and organizational obstructions in the coverage of the 31 October local elections, avoid possible abuse by controlling bodies through checks on media outlets.
