Parliament allows officials to continue concealing income and expenditure
The Verkhovna Rada has failed to support a draft law which would have obliged high-ranking public officials carrying out State and local self-government functions and members of their family to declare income and expenditure. The draft law received only 118 votes with 410 National Deputies registered in parliament.
The draft bill envisaged the introduction of a special system for declaring income and expenditure and required declaration of all expenditure on goods, work and services if the actual or market value of these was 100 times higher than the minimum wage before tax.
The draft bill was tabled by the leader of the Front for Change, Arseny Yatsenyuk.
