European Parliament President speaks of political nature of Tymoshenko’s case
Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament has expressed concern over the political nature of the criminal case against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The information agency UNIAN says that they were passed his comments in Brussels by the EP Press Service and quotes him as saying:
“I am concerned by the news about the court order to detain former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The context and conditions around this order heighten anxiety regarding the political nature of this case”.
See khpg.org/index.php?id=1306273894 for more details about the conflicting stories from the Prosecutor General’s Office as to this court order. Nobody, however, is denying that it exists and the Deputy Prosecutor General has effectively warned that it can be used at will to remand the main opposition figure in custody.
