Oleksandr Plakhotnyk, the lawyer representing former Prime Minister, presidential candidate and leader of the opposition Batkivshchyna Party, stated today that more than 200 pages had disappeared from the prosecution file. He said that material in the 14th volume read out at the hearing had contained 309 pages, whereas the appendix to the covering letter mentions 522 pages.

Ms Tymoshenko asserted that this is not the first time that material has been failed to be missing. In her view this demonstrates that the case was rigged and not prepared strictly in accordance with the law.

Interfax – Ukraine later reported the Prosecutor as denying that any pages were missing.

"A statement was made that 213 pages have allegedly disappeared from the materials of the criminal case. I want to refute this statement, and say that none of the pages of the criminal case are missing, " Frolova told reporters on Monday.

She explained that the investigator sent 522 pages of the case to conduct an examination, after which the materials were redistributed to the various volumes of the criminal case. "After these materials were returned to the ministry with the conclusion of the examination, the investigator rearranged them, " Frolova said.
