Ukrainska Pravda takes parliament to court over concealed information
The website Ukrainska Pravda is asking the court to order the Office of the Verkhovna Rada to inform which MPs elected in this session have received State-owned flats.
The civil suit was prompted by the failure to provide full information on the cost and size of official accommodation allocated to MPs.
It specifically applies to the refusal to provide the names of MPs who received such housing. The Office of the Verkhovna Rada claimed that this was confidential information which could only be given out with the person’s consent.
In fact, it is clear from legislation on information that the failure to provide full information in this case was unlawful.
Legal consultation and representation is being provided by the Media Law Institute.
