9 Heads of State thus far to boycott Presidential Summit in Yalta

The office of Croatia’s President Ivo Josipovic has announced that due to the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, he will not be attending the Central and East European States’ Presidential Meeting in Yalta.

The office of Croatia’s President Ivo Josipovic has announced that due to the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, he will not be attending the Central and East European States’ Presidential Meeting in Yalta  "Taking into consideration circumstances which indicate violation of human rights in Ukraine, President Ivo Josipovic has decided not to attend the summit of Central European heads of state to be held in Yalta on May 11 and 12, " the office said.

Mr Josipovic is one of 9 heads of state to boycott the summit.  The others (so far) are the Presidents of Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Italy, Latvia and Slovenia. .

There are also calls, especially from Germany, to boycott the Euro 2012 Football Championship.  The Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine has announced that no European Commissioners will attend the Euro 2012 European Football
