Organizer of illegal mine imprisoned

A court in Yenakiyevo in the Donetsk oblast has sentenced the organizer of a “kopanka” or illegal mine in which six men died after an explosion on 29 February 2012 to eight years’ imprisonment.

The tragedy was only one of a number just in this year with the mines illegal and therefore not under any control in a poor area where men (and sometimes underage young loads) are desperate for work.
