Serhiy Vlasenko, MP and imprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s main lawyer, stated on Monday that he is under criminal investigation.  He believes that he may be arrested in three weeks and said that the Verkhovna Rada would be asked to authorize the arrest in the near future.

He alleges that the Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin and Prseidential Adviser Andriy Portnov are behind this. He asserts that the main aim is to remove him from Tymoshenko’s defence.

He asserted that for wiping a video from his ex-wife’s mobile he could have 7 years pinned on him, for stealing his own car – another five.

Vlasenko told reporters that it was inaccurate to say that the authorities were planning to initiate a criminal investigation against him.  “The criminal investigations have already been initiated”.

Vlasenko said that he was accused on non-implementation of a court ruling linked to his divorce and robbery. “Why “robbery”?  That article carries up to seven years imprisonment and you can arrest a person immediately.
