Missing persons and enforced disappearances in the Kherson Region (24 February-24 June 2022)

During Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine the Kherson Region became a part of the country with the highest number of enforced disappearances and illegal detention among civilians. To date (24 June 2022) 412 victims of these crimes have been identified.

Missing and Detained Individuals in the Kharkiv Region: An analytical review (24 February to 23 June 2022)

The KHPG has been documenting war crimes since the first day of the war.It draws on information from open sources and appeals it receives from the victims or their relatives. In the past four months, we documented 590 incidents in the Kharkiv Regionin which a total of 777 people disappeared.

Disappearances in the Zaporizhzhia Region (24 February to 18 June 2022)

Among the categories of people who disappeared the majority were ordinary citizens. They were not working for the media, and there is no information about them. It is proving impossible to determine their fate. Their occupations are unknown, and it remains unclear what category we can put them in.

The analysis of the collected information provides grounds to claim that there were deaths and injuries of civilian people, destruction and damage of civilian objects – residential buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities – due to wilful and indiscriminate shelling. The studied data also provides reasons to claim alleged incidents of enforced disappearances, captures of civilians, violations of humanitarian corridors and attacks on humanitarian aid supplies, looting, killings and others.

The analysis of the collected information gives grounds to claim that there were deaths and injuries of civilians, destruction and damage of civilian objects due to wilful shelling and indiscriminate shelling, probable incidents of enforced disappearances, captures of civilians, violations of humanitarian corridors and attacks on humanitarian aid supplies and convoys, volunteers, looting, killings.

This publication provides the summary of the information gathered by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, within the global initiative “Tribunal for Putin” on the alleged international crimes in 90 days of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. 840 episodes were documented and recorded in the database.

Summary of events that took place in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region during the first 60 days of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war (February 24 – April 24 2022)

This publication provides a summary of information collected by the KHPG, about alleged international crimes during the first 60 days of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. 1267 instances were recorded and entered into the database. According to preliminary estimates, 5 types of crimes against humanity and 17 types of war crimes were committed under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The article describes our approach to documentation of the international crimes allegedly committed by the Russian occupiers, briefly describes the database where the collected information is entered, legal aid provided to victims of crime, means of publishing results and communication with victims and witnesses.
