Beatings and torture are everyday in Ukrainian prisons, and the public have little way of finding out what is happening. Recent events in the Izyaslav Penal Colony No. 31 where an attempted hunger strike resulted in reprisals against the prisoners is just one disturbing example
So where are the results of the Kalashnikov inquiry?

According to the head of the Kyiv Independent Media Trade Union, journalists have not forgotten the incident where National Deputy Kalashnikov assaulted a television filming crew and are appalled by the lack of any action from Kalashnikovs party. They also call for an adequate response from the journalist community

Help lines in Ukraine for victims of human trafficking

Twenty help line operators who will give assistance to human trafficking victims and help prevent others falling into such traps are being trained by the OSCE Mission in Kyiv.

The tragedy of Salina is one with that of Bykivnya, Sandarmokh and Babi Yar. They tried to wipe the memory of this tragedy from the face of the earth, to make it forgotten, driven from peoples minds. However it moved and continues to move our hearts with one short word: REMEMBER!

Present plans for creating yet another agency would appear to reflect the Governments concern to rake in profits from selling emission quotas at the expense of real implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, and needless to add, at the expense of our shared planet
