Criminal charges of inflicting medium severity injuries on a person who had been detained for an administrative offence have been submitted to the court

The Holosiyivsky District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted to the court criminal charges against an employee of the Holosiyivsky District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The charges fall under Article 365 § 2 of the Criminal Code (exceeding ones power and official authority, with the use of force, weapons or painful and degrading actions).

According to the Prosecutor’s Office Press Service, the police officeris accused of inflictingmedium severity injuries on a person who had been detained for an administrative offence.

If convicted, the officer faces a sentence of from three to eight years imprisonment together with a ban on occupying certain posts or engaging in certain types of activities for up to three years.
