Garry Kasparov has been in custody since Saturday when arrested over a march of those in dissent

Russian opposition figure Garry Kasparov has not been permitted to see his lawyer.  The latter, Olga Mikhailova says that she was only able to see her client in the courtroom.

Two other visitors were not admitted: independent member of the lower house of the State Duma Vladimir Ryzhkov and the former world chess champion Anatoly Karpov. The Central Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that they did not have permission.

The leader of the United Civic Front has been imprisoned since Saturday. Co-organizer of the “March of those in dissent” [Marsh niesoglashnykh”] in Moscow was jailed for five days for infringements of the rules for holding rallies and resisting the police.

Since then a number of international organizations and countries have expressed concern over the arrests of those taking part in opposition demonstrations in Russia.
