77 victims of political repression to receive lifelong grants

The grants will be provided to 77 people persecuted for their human rights activities. Candidates were put forward by the local authorities taking suggestions from civic organizations for former political prisoners and victims of repression into account

The Cabinet of Ministers today approved the Presidential Instruction “On lifelong State named grants to citizens of Ukraine who suffered persecution for their political activities”.

The grants will be provided to 77 individuals who were persecuted for their human rights activities. The grant will be paid on a monthly basis as 100% of the subsistence minimum for people unable to work, this being at present 498 UAH.

The candidates were put forward by the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, regional State administrations and those for Kyiv and Sevastopol, taking into account suggestions from civic organizations for former political prisoners and victims of repression.
