Truly extra security measures for President Yanukovych
In Mykolaiv residents are still fuming over the security measures taken during Yanukovych’s visit to the city on Friday 21 September.
Ruslan Mykhalchenko posted the picture above on his page on a social network. The photo was taken from inside the shop he was effectively locked inside by the police as the President’s cortege went past.
Shops were closed on other streets as well. Quite literally, in fact, with the police “asking” shopkeepers to close their shops for an hour since Yanukovych was due to be at a service in a Church nearby.
The report also says that a day before the President’s arrival, residents of the blocks along the path that he was to follow were ordered to keep their windows shut and with blinds down (“so that they didn’t throw eggs at the President” – during the 2004 Presidentia campaign an egg was thrown at Viktor Yanukovych who fell to the ground – translator).
