On 18 April the Constitutional Court announced that people serving sentences in penal institutions have the right to participate in hearings into their case at all levels, and pointed out that this right is not presently defined in procedural legislation

The court hearing, scheduled for 2 April 2012 into charges against former Minister of the Interior Yury Lutsenko and two other people over alleged unlawful surveillance has been adjourned until 23 April, 6 days after the public consideration of his application by the European Court of Human Rights
Pshonka issues instruction for Tymoshenko to be treated outside prison

As reported, the European Court of Human Rights decided on 15 March 2012 to indicate to the Ukrainian Government, under Rule 39 that it ensure that former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko receive adequate medical treatment in an appropriate institution.
