One of the heads of the money watchdog “Nashi Hroshi” and regular writer for Dzerkalo Tyzhnya Oleksy Shalaisky has received the Oleksandr Kryvenko Prize for Progress in Journalism.
Oleksy Shalaisky’s site is stubbornly committed to providing the public with information about how public funding is used. As reported, this task has been made considerably more difficult by the bill signed into law by President Yanukovych in August 2012. The bill removes a large percentage of public procurement from tender process altogether and hides the spending from the public.
