war crimes in Ukraine
The Tribunal for Putin (T4P) global initiative was set up in response to the all-out war launched by Russia against Ukraine in February 2022.

Russia tries to impose secrecy on its illegal seizure of 24 Ukrainian POWs
15.01.2019
If Russia has nothing to hide in its ‘prosecution’ of 24 Ukrainian POWs, why is the FSB asking for their detention court hearings to be held behind closed doors?
Russia increases torture conditions for most Crimean and other Ukrainian political prisoners
14.01.2019
Three new Russian laws, recently signed into force by Russian President Vladimir Putin, will make the conditions for the ever-mounting number of Crimean political prisoners convicted of so-called ‘extremism’ or ‘terrorism’ even harsher.
Russia launches dangerous attack on lawyers defending victims of persecution in occupied Crimea
11.01.2019
Russia’s Justice Ministry has demanded that the de facto Crimean Bar Association expel Emil Kurbedinov, with this almost certainly leading to his being stripped of his licence. This is the latest of several attempts to silence Kurbedinov and other courageous lawyers in occupied Crimea
Russia’s imprisonment of disabled Crimean Tatar activist is a death sentence without a crime or trial
10.01.2019
Even the media reports that showed Bekirov having difficulty walking with a crutch still posted headlines claiming that he was a member of a military formation who’d been seized with 11 kilograms of explosives.
The FSB fabricates pathetic ‘Crimean saboteur’ plot you wouldn’t find in the shoddiest detective novel
09.01.2019
Biological traces in the wrong place and a plot you wouldn’t find in the shoddiest detective novel. These are just some of the weak links in Russia’s latest trial of two Ukrainians from Sevastopol: academic Oleksiy Bessarabov and retired naval captain Volodymyr Dudka
Russia bulldozes vast amounts of food while tens of millions live below the poverty line
09.01.2019
It is three and a half years since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the destruction of food products ‘smuggled’ into Russia despite Moscow’s ban on such imports in retaliation for western sanctions. Despite widespread outrage over the move when tens of millions are living below the poverty line, the barbaric destruction has continued unabated. .
Ukrainian political prisoner jailed for fictitious ‘attack on Crimea’ disappears in Russia
08.01.2019
It is three weeks since Yevhen Panov’s family received any information about the recognized political prisoner’s whereabouts
Crimean Tatar activist who took aid to Ukrainian POWs viciously attacked & told this is his “last warning”
03.01.2019
Risa Asanov has played a major role in supporting political prisoners and their families since returning to Crimea in 2017, and he is certain that the attack was linked with his strong civic position.
Russia ‘decriminalizes’ pro-Ukraine social media reposts in occupied Crimea. But only the first
02.01.2019
Amendments have been made to one of Russia’s notorious ‘extremism’ charges used in many political prosecutions in Russian-occupied Crimea
Russia’s plans foiled as all 24 imprisoned Ukrainian sailors declare themselves POWs
31.12.2018
Although the men’s POW status, according to international law, was never seriously in question, all have been under immense pressure from the FSB to ‘confess’ to non-existent crimes
Four Crimean Tatar political prisoners get horrifically long sentences for not ‘confessing’ to fake terrorism charges
24.12.2018
Two days after the UN General Assembly condemned Russia for violations of human rights in Crimea, a Russian court has sentenced four recognized Crimean Tatar political prisoners to terms of imprisonment from 9 to 17 years
‘Expert’ who helped jail Crimean Tatar lawyer for Facebook post called for “rabid Ukrainians to be killed”
21.12.2018
The ‘experts’ whom Russia’s FSB uses for political trials in occupied Crimea are notoriously lacking in any specialist knowledge and / or incompetent. Andrei Nikiforov is, however, in a category of his own.
Russian prosecutor demands huge sentences “on fantasy charges” for 4 Crimean Tatars
20.12.2018
Russia’s second ‘Hizb ut-Tahrir trial’ of Crimean Tatars is drawing to an end with heavy sentences likely despite absurd charges and proof only that all four recognized political prisoners are devout Muslims
Gravely ill Crimean Tatar activist jailed for a crime he physically couldn’t have committed
19.12.2018
A court in Russian-occupied Crimea has jailed Edem Bekirov for two months despite a heart condition, diabetes and an amputation that make imprisonment a direct threat to his life and the charges against him nonsensical.
‘Friend of the Crimean Tatar people’ banned from Russia for 55 years
18.12.2018
Just like in Soviet times, reporting on Russian persecution of Crimean Tatars and other Ukrainians can make you a persona non grata for Moscow. In Oliver Loode’s case, the ban is until he’s 99!
Russia may take revenge for independent Ukrainian Orthodox Church on believers in occupied Crimea
17.12.2018
Moscow’s rage at the granting of autocephaly or independent status to a united Ukrainian Orthodox Church is likely to find an outlet in occupied Crimea where the Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate has been under pressure since Russia’s annexation
Russia sentences Crimean to 14 years for ‘revealing state secrets’ to Ukraine’ 15 years ago
17.12.2018
Leonid Parkhomenko, a retired Black Sea Fleet captain from Sevastopol, has been convicted by the Russian military court in Rostov of ‘treason’ and sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment. Parkhomenko denied the charges, which date back to 2003-2005, and there are strong grounds for suspecting the methods used to obtain the conviction.
Seized Ukrainian naval commander refuses to give any testimony until Russia releases his men & recognizes them all as POWs
14.12.2018
Russia’s attempt to justify its seizure of 24 Ukrainian prisoners of war on 25 November by bringing criminal charges against the men has hit major hurdles, however Russian President Vladimir Putin is scarcely concealing his unwillingness to release any political prisoners or POWs for fear of helping President Petro Poroshenko in the coming elections
’Sentsov Has Won,’ Cousin Tells Sakharov Prize Ceremony
13.12.2018
The European Parliament has awarded imprisoned Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov its 2018 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.
Russia invents ‘Donbas link’ to justify its Azov Sea attack on Ukraine & seizure of 24 POWs
10.12.2018
Russia’s FSB has come up with an absurdly irrelevant allegation against one of the 24 Ukrainian POWs seized on 25 November, with the story virtually identical to that used in 2014 against Nadiya Savchenko
